TransportationGreat Lakes Aviation provides two round trips each weekday and one each weekend to the Albuquerque International Sunport using a 19-seat Raytheon/Beech 1900D aircraft and a daily roundtrip Monday through Friday to Denver, CO and Amarillo, TX. Check their website for flight schedules. The Clovis Municipal Airport is located six miles east on State Highway 523. Positioned on the most east-central side of the state, Clovis Airport is the aviation focal point of the region providing a wide range of services. This includes twelve weekly roundtrips to Albuquerque via a regional airline. The newly remodeled terminal building greets the incoming passenger to the eastern high plains. Work has begun for the extension of the main runway. To be done in phases, the extension will allow for future growth and capability of regional jets that will open up other city destinations. An aggressive five-year plan has been adopted to keep pace with the demands by the new mission at Cannon. Passenger airlines that fly into the Lubbock and Amarillo airport 90 miles away include: American, Southwest, Continental, United Express and Delta. Shuttle service is available from Lubbock Airport to Clovis. Clovis has three car rental companies - Enterprise and Hertz, and G&C Limousine Services. Clovis Area Transit System (CATS), operated by the City of Clovis provides local transportation and Whirlwind Tours provides passenger bus opportunities. Whirlwind Tours also provides bus services to school & group charters. |
