This studio blends some of the iconic analog gear used in Buddy Holly classics like “That’ll Be the Day”
and “Peggy Sue” with modernized recording capabilities and sound.
Joining the project are esteemed professionals including Gold and Platinum recording engineer Mark Salamone, Emmy Award-Winning Producer/Composer Lance Bendiksen, Studio Project Coordinator Aaron Willis, and local Electrical Engineer Jay Fisher, all bringing their expertise to this collaborative endeavor.
We are thrilled to announce that a team of studio designers is embarking on the creation of a cutting-edge recording studio in Clovis. They are blending vintage analog recording equipment with modern digital technology to bring you “The Clovis Sound Studio.”
During a press conference at the Clovis Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum in the Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce building, Sam Berkow, Aaron Willis, Mark Salamone and Jay Fisher, shared their vision for this project.
We believe that the vintage equipment we are using holds a special quality that resonates with purity from the past. Our goal is to capture that unique sound here at The Clovis Sound Studio,” expressed Salamone.
Acoustics play a crucial role in creating the perfect environment for our studio, and we are dedicated to getting it just right,” emphasized Bendiksen. Today marks the beginning of our journey, and we aim to complete the project by the first of August.”
The funding for this endeavor stems from $400,000 in capital outlay money from the state Legislature, championed for approval by former area lawmaker Randal Crowder. We envision Clovis becoming a destination for artists looking to create not just a record but an experience,” added Salamone.
The journey of The Clovis Sound Studios began as a showcase of vintage analog recording equipment dating back to the 1930s through the 1960s. Today, this equipment is undergoing meticulous restoration to bring it back to full working order, soon to be accessible to musicians.
Our aim is to establish a fully operational analog studio featuring standalone echo and reverb rooms. Jay Fisher expressed, “People are amazed when they learn about our project. No one, absolutely no one, is dedicating physical space for echo and reverb rooms anymore. In today’s digital age, everything runs through workstations, but nothing compares to the authenticity of the real thing. Musicians crave the genuine experience. This is an exhilarating moment in time.”
Having worked with small independent digital studios , we understand that professional analog recording studios have different needs

Much of the gear here is either a restored classic vintage piece, or modeled after one. Bands looking for a “retro” experience will be quite happy here, while modern bands simply looking for great sound should be equally satisfied. We strive to maintain a clean, creative environment, where great sound is paramount, at a price that anyone can afford.
