Clovis and Curry County have seen their stock rise tremendously in recent years as the leading regional hub in eastern New Mexico. Clovis continues to have significant growth in both its retail businesses and restaurants. The North area is a host of businesses, including a Super Wal-Mart, Lowe's Home Improvement, Chili's Bar & Grill, Applebee's, Rib Crib, Pizza Hut /Wing Street, Bahama Bucks, Fat Boys Barbecue, two strip malls with several specialty shops and Patriot Outdoors, a sportsman’s paradise. The area also was selected as the location for Tractor Supply’s New Clovis outfit, offering nationally-branded farm, home and garden supplies to both rural and urban customers in the Clovis/Portales Microplex.

The city continues to see further growth throughout the midtown area as well. Retailers such as Advance Auto Parts and Discount Tires have recently located stores within midtown, as well as Hobby Lobby, Sprint, Dollar General, Hastings Bookstore, I-Hop and other specialty shops filling the shopping center on 21st and Prince.

North Plains Mall, centrally located on North Prince at Manana, features Bealls, Dillard’s, JCPenney and Sears Department Stores. Also included within the mall are other popular stores such as; Bath and Body Works, The Buckle, Claire’s Boutique, The Shoe Department, Footlocker, GNC, Hot Topic, Maurices, Pacific Sunwear (Pac Sun), Radio Shack, Regis Salon, Game Stop, Hibbett Sports as well as both Zales and Gordon’s Jewelers. Several other attractions are located surrounding the mall as well, such as the North Plains Cinema 7, Red Lobster, Wendy’s, Taco Bell and the Plateau Telecommunications Superstore.

Adding to the selection of guest accommodations the new Holiday Inn Express opened its doors in the spring of 2009. This facility is equipped with 80 non-smoking rooms, 16 suites and 5 rooms with accessibility standards. With a fitness center, indoor pool/spa, business center, on-site laundry service and a convenience store, your stay in Clovis will surely meet your expectations. In early 2006, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott opened its 67-room hotel in North Clovis along with a new Comfort Inn and Suites just completed on Schepps Boulevard, offering visitors a new place to stay close to the newly developed Civic Center.

Plains Regional Medical Center, a division of Presbyterian Health Care, is a state of the art medical facility serving the region. In the last two years, several million dollars were spent to build a new physicians’ office complex, a physical therapy center, emergency room facilities and a cancer treatment facility. The newest medical addition to Clovis was the opening of the new Surgery Center of Eastern New Mexico in fall of 2007.

Work continues today with other expansions and renovation projects that will keep our area’s medical care on the cutting edge of the health service industry.
